Zero emissions

In the diesel electric propulsion system, the electrical energy needed for the main propulsion electric motors that provide the propulsion power of the ship is met by diesel generators and alternator sets. It takes up very little space in terms of volume compared to other propulsion systems. Positions of generators may vary according to ship types, losses are low since energy transmission is provided by electrical cables. Electric motors can be connected directly to the shaft without the need for a gearbox. A separate battery pack can also provide additional power to the system through the main driver board and the ship can cruise at low speeds with zero emissions.
